About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and skilled professional to lead our Employment Relations and Conduct team. As Head of Employment Relations and Conduct, you will be responsible for providing expert advice and support to our management and HR teams on a range of employment-related matters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the Employment Relations and Conduct team to provide accurate and timely guidance to stakeholders.
  • Supervise the management and resolution of complex employment-related matters, including industrial instrument and legislative interpretation, employee misconduct, and termination of employment.
  • Support HR Business Partners and managers with case management processes to ensure objective and fair assessment.
  • Contribute as a lead Subject Matter Expert to HR strategy, ensuring compliance with regulations and legislation.
Requirements
  • Substantial experience in employment relations and conduct, preferably in a higher education or research institution.
  • Demonstrated extensive skills and experience in conducting investigations, including developing investigation and risk plans, securing evidence, and drawing objective and fair conclusions.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, support, and develop a specialist team in a complex environment.
  • Extensive experience providing employment relations advice and support to senior leaders, line management, staff, and HR teams.
  • High-level interpersonal and negotiation skills, including ability to liaise effectively with diverse stakeholders and build relationships.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders, provide high-level guidance, and influence outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to think and operate strategically in a HR context, with high-level problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated superior sound judgment and an advanced level of emotional intelligence, especially in relation to dealing with sensitive and confidential matters.
