Data Center Operations Specialist

Job Description:

The Infrastructure Operations team at AWS is seeking a Data Center Operations Specialist to join our team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for sustaining the physical infrastructure and maintaining safety, security, availability, productivity, capacity, efficiency, and cost in our data centers.

Responsibilities include routine maintenance and emergency service of critical systems such as switchgear, generators, UPS, power distribution, chillers, cooling towers, CRACs, building monitoring, and fire systems. You will also install new rack capacity and provisioning of power and cooling, manage contractors and vendors, establish performance benchmarks, conduct analyses, prepare reports/documentation, and manage facility assets.

You will work closely with data center IT managers and business leaders to coordinate day-to-day operations, manage capacity, and optimize plant safety, performance, reliability, sustainability, and efficiency. This role may involve bending, lifting, stretching, reaching, and climbing ladders, stairs, and gangways safely.

This role requires a valid driver's license and own vehicle due to site locations. You must have 4+ years of relevant work experience in facilities management within a data center or other critical space, ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment, experience with physical security protocols and adherence to safety standards, and experience with Microsoft Office (Word/Excel) and web-based tools.

Requirements:

Our ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field, or technical/trade qualifications with relevant data center experience. You must have strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems in a data center, experience in mission-critical facility management for large enterprises or large Colocation providers, and experience managing vendors/contractors performing construction, maintenance, and upgrades in large-scale critical environments.
