Job Description

We are seeking a Part Time Library Officer - Branch Programs to join our team in Lithgow, NSW for a period of up to 12 months.

You will be responsible for supporting and delivering best-practice library and outreach programs through planning, delivery, evaluation, and communication; providing direct customer service and enhancing customer engagement. This position works across all library branches depending on rostering requirements.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with the planning, preparation, and delivery of library programs and events for various age groups which may include community interests, including digital literacy programs, preschool Storytime, book groups and author talks.
  • Liaise with local schools and community groups to build partnerships and engage them with the library.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the Branch Library under supervision of the Library Coordinator and in partnership with the Library Officer - Branch Services.
  • In conjunction with the Library Officer – Branch Services, ensure there is an appropriate range of stock and library resources to meet local needs. Contribute to the collection development by assisting with selection and accessioning of library resources.
  • Contribute to maintenance of Library Statistical Information through collection and reporting of statistics relating to all aspects of Branch usage and services.

About You

  • You must have completion or progress towards completion of a Diploma in Library and Information Services or equivalent, recognised by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) or related tertiary qualifications.
  • You should have demonstrated experience delivering educational or recreational public programs for diverse audiences.
  • You require at least 2 year's experience working in a public library.
  • You must have experience in the delivery of quality customer service to internal and external customers.
  • You need proficiency in the use of a variety of computer applications including Microsoft Office, the internet, email and social media.
  • You should commit to Work Health and Safety.
  • You require a Class C Drivers Licence.
  • You need a Current Working with Children Check.
  • You must demonstrate a commitment to the principals of honesty and integrity.
