About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Public Library Engagement Specialist to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the community by delivering best-practice library and outreach programs.

  • This role will support and deliver public library programs through planning, delivery, evaluation, and communication. You will work closely with local schools and community groups to build partnerships and engage them with the library.
  • You will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the branch library, under the supervision of the library coordinator, and in partnership with the library officer – branch services.
  • Key responsibilities include assisting with the planning, preparation, and delivery of library programs and events for various age groups. You will also contribute to collection development by selecting and accessioning library resources.

Requirements:

  • A diploma in library and information services or equivalent, recognised by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA), or related tertiary qualifications.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering educational or recreational public programs for diverse audiences.
  • At least two years' experience working in a public library, providing quality customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Proficiency in the use of computer applications, including Microsoft Office, the internet, email, and social media.
  • Commitment to work health and safety, class C drivers licence, current working with children check, and demonstrated commitment to honesty and integrity.
