Water Security Modeller Job Description">

The successful candidate will lead water security assessments to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of our water supply management across Southeast Queensland, collaborating with internal and external technical experts.

  • Utilize advanced modelling tools, techniques, and methodologies to analyze outcomes, improve model development, and implement innovative solutions that enhance water quality and quantity.
  • Interpret and evaluate water supply modelling outcomes to provide expert advice for business case development, stakeholder initiatives, and long-term planning.
  • Coordinate and manage significant water supply modelling projects within multi-functional teams, developing least-cost optimisation strategies to ensure appropriate water resources.
  • Provide professional advice on government policy, legislation, and regulation, using modelling outcomes to formulate strategies and recommendations for SEQ water supply planning.
  • Ensure water supply models are accurate, reliable, and fit for purpose by managing a modelling assurance framework, overseeing change management, and leading internal and external audits.

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • Tertiary qualification in Science, Maths or Engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in stochastic modelling, including extensive data analysis and interpretation of modelling results.
  • Proven expertise in large-scale system modelling and translation of water security impacts into business cases.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multi-functional project teams and communicate complex information effectively.
  • High-level analytical and statistical interpretation skills, with proficiency in statistical packages and water supply models.
  • Ideally, experience in hydrological modelling using tools such as IQQM, WATHNET (RSM), GoldSim or eWater Source to undertake Level-of-Service water security assessments.
