Sr. Network Infrastructure Engineer

Overview

We seek a highly experienced and skilled Sr. Network Infrastructure Engineer to join our team in Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, Australia.

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, managing, and retiring the infrastructure that supports digital services, ensuring seamless connectivity and performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and evaluate infrastructure requirements to meet future demand
  • Provide expert technical support for project build, test, and solution deployment activities
  • Prepare, review, and maintain documentation, including design documents, implementation plans, test plans, and support procedures
  • Assist in developing and implementing strategies, operational policies, and procedures, as well as change initiatives
  • Participate in the change management process and communicate the end-to-end implications of configuration changes
  • Provide detailed, specialist technical advice, including strategic advice to senior executives
  • Share knowledge and expertise as a subject matter expert and provide mentorship to less experienced colleagues
  • Conduct research on emerging technologies and provide recommendations on product suitability
  • Engage and partner with other agencies and service providers to build service delivery capability
  • Attend interagency meetings and forums to influence business outcomes and share information
  • Encourage innovation, continuous improvement, and manage and support change; contribute to ICT strategy and resolve conflicts as needed
  • Manage the operation of backup, high availability, and disaster recovery solutions for IT systems
  • Manage regular maintenance of patches and support packages for all technical layers
  • Manage administration and operation of the Gateway network kit
Requirements

Candidates must have at least five years' demonstrated experience in designing, managing, and maintaining internet gateway and/or large-scale data centre networking environments.

  • Demonstrated experience and technical proficiency in designing services utilizing F5/Blue Coat Layer 4-7 switching/load balancing and proxy systems
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and deploying network infrastructure, including Cisco Data Centre technologies like Cisco ACI, Cisco Routers, Nexus switches, routing protocols like BGP, OSPF, EIGRP
  • Demonstrated experience with and/or detailed understanding of Palo Alto firewalls and IPS Solutions
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing VPN technologies, email, and DNS (Infoblox) Solutions
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and integrating hybrid and public cloud services
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining system architecture and design documentation
  • Demonstrated experience with or knowledge of Australian Government information security policies, the ASD Information Security Manual, and Essential Eight
Technical Skills
  • Cisco Data Centre technologies like Cisco ACI, Cisco Routers, Nexus switches, routing protocols like BGP, OSPF, EIGRP
