The Team

The Defending Democracy Unit plays a central role in maintaining election integrity by shaping our capability to counter interference.

The Legal Services Branch provides strategic legal advice, conducts investigations, and ensures the integrity of Commonwealth electoral systems.

This dynamic team offers opportunities to work across various sections, including Corporate Law, Electoral Law, and Regulatory Law.

The Branch manages legal advice, dispute resolution, investigations, and legislative development, as well as supporting capabilities through training and guidance.

Your Role

You will support the creation of a merit pool for future opportunities in the Legal Services Branch.

We seek candidates with experience working with legal processes, litigation, regulatory work, and statutory obligations to support us.

Key responsibilities include coordinating advice, recordkeeping, and reporting to internal and external stakeholders, as well as supporting the fraud control team.

To succeed, you must demonstrate high standards of integrity and professionalism, operate under limited direction, and perform moderately complex tasks.

Required skills include experience working in a team, strong communication, and attention to detail.
