Park Maintenance Specialist

The Darebin City Council is seeking an experienced Park Maintenance Specialist to contribute to the development and upkeep of our Open Space Network.

This role involves working as part of a larger team that strives to improve the amenity of these precious spaces.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of arboriculture and/or horticulture principles and practices, with a minimum of four years' experience in park maintenance work, including chainsaw operations, bobcat works and general parks maintenance.

Additionally, the candidate should have the ability to provide on-the-job training and be comfortable operating various equipment.

The successful candidate will also possess excellent communication skills, be able to work effectively in a team environment, and be committed to achieving service excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular inspections of open spaces to identify maintenance needs and develop strategies for improvement.
  • Perform chainsaw operations, bobcat works and general parks maintenance tasks as required.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to deliver high-quality outcomes and achieve project milestones.
  • Provide training and guidance to junior staff members on equipment operation and maintenance procedures.

Requirements:

Minimum qualification of Certificate 3 in Arboriculture/Horticulture or equivalent.

Minimum of four (4) years' experience in park maintenance work, including chainsaw operations and general parks maintenance.

Ability to operate various equipment, including chainsaws and bobcats.

Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Commitment to achieving service excellence and delivering high-quality outcomes.
