Policy Officer Role

In our organization, we have a critical role in protecting Australia's biosecurity system.

We are seeking skilled professionals to join us as Policy Officers. As a Policy Officer, you will play a crucial part in researching, interpreting, and developing advice on complex policy issues affecting national biosecurity. Your expertise will inform high-level decisions, while collaborating with various stakeholders in a positive and respectful manner.

The successful applicant will have:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparing well-researched policy and program advice regarding biosecurity reform or response, bringing together perspectives from across the organization
  • Developing high-quality resources, including briefs, agenda papers, and other documents
  • Managing and delivering individual projects, setting tasks and priorities, managing workflow, and allocating resources
  • Collaborating, communicating, and engaging proactively with a range of internal and external stakeholders to inform policy development

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in policy or program design and development
  • Experience in regulation, policy, project, program, or coordination roles
