As a Structural Drafter at Taylor Thomson Whitting, you will play a crucial role in bringing our clients' visions to life. Your expertise in design and documentation will be essential in creating high-quality working drawings that meet the needs of builders and architects.

We are seeking a skilled Revit Drafter to join our team in the Canberra office. As a Structural Engineering Specialist, you will be responsible for drafting from engineers' initial sketch designs to produce working drawings that are accurate and complete.

Main Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of construction methods and techniques to ensure that your designs are feasible and effective.
  • Liaise with engineers and architects to prepare and coordinate documentation, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed and up-to-date.
  • Apply your knowledge of Australian Standards and Building Codes to ensure that your designs meet the required standards.
  • Manage project correspondence via document management sites, such as Aconex and Incite.
  • Communicate relevant project information to project leaders and team members, ensuring that everyone is aware of their roles and responsibilities.
  • Implement and monitor Quality Assurance items to ensure that our projects meet the highest standards.
  • Effectively manage your time to ensure that work is completed within established timeframes.

About You

  • You will have relevant TAFE qualifications and/or relevant experience in structural drafting and design.
  • You will have at least 3-4 years' experience, including apprenticeship if applicable.
  • You will have a working knowledge of Revit and be proficient in using it to create high-quality designs.
  • You will have a general understanding of BCA and relevant Australian Standards.
  • You will be able to prioritize incoming work appropriately and manage your time effectively.
  • You will have problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to think critically and creatively.
  • You will have good communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.
