About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Structural Drafter to join our team at Taylor Thomson Whitting, a leading professional engineering firm in Australia. As a Structural Drafter, you will play a critical role in the design and documentation of building projects, working closely with engineers and architects to deliver high-quality results.

Main Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain accurate and detailed technical drawings and documentation for building projects, from initial design to completion.
  • Liaise with engineers and architects to ensure that designs meet project requirements and are feasible from a construction perspective.
  • Apply knowledge of building codes, standards, and regulations to ensure compliance and quality in design and documentation.
  • Collaborate with project teams to coordinate and manage project documentation, including drafting, revising, and finalizing drawings and reports.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of construction methods, techniques, and materials to ensure accurate and effective design and documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with project stakeholders, including engineers, architects, contractors, and clients, to ensure that project requirements are met and expectations are managed.
  • Implement and monitor quality assurance processes to ensure that design and documentation meet company standards and client expectations.

About You

  • Relevant TAFE qualifications and/or relevant experience in structural drafting and design.
  • At least 3-4 years' experience in a similar role, including apprenticeship if applicable.
  • Working knowledge of Revit and other CAD software.
  • General understanding of building codes, standards, and regulations, including the Building Code of Australia (BCA) and relevant Australian Standards.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
