Job Overview

A Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist is a vital member of our healthcare team, responsible for performing laboratory procedures and providing critical diagnostic support to physicians. This role requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.


The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Science degree in a relevant field, such as Biology, Chemistry, or Medical Laboratory Science, and be certified as a Medical Technologist (MT), Medical Lab Scientist (MLS), or hold categorical certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or the American Medical Technologists (AMT). Recent graduates with registry eligibility for certification are also encouraged to apply.


This position involves working in a fast-paced laboratory environment, often under pressure to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality results. The successful candidate will possess manual dexterity, computer literacy, and excellent organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively and manage competing demands.


Physical requirements for this role include standing for extended periods, moving equipment, and lifting up to 50 pounds on occasion. Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, or Medical Laboratory Science;
  • Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT), Medical Lab Scientist (MLS), or categorical certification;
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills;
  • Manual dexterity and ability to operate complex laboratory equipment;

Other Requirements
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and follow detailed laboratory procedures and protocols;
  • Use of computers and ability to acquire software skills to operate application packages used by the department;
  • Minimum of 12 continuing education credits required annually for continued employment;
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment;
  • Population-specific competency to effectively interact with patients/customers with understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity;


Physical Demands
  • Medium: Exerts 20-50 pounds of force occasionally and/or ten to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force continuously to move objects;
  • Standing for extended periods and moving equipment;
