About the Role

This is a teaching-focused position within the University of Queensland's Rural Clinical School. The Academic Guidance Lead will play a crucial role in supporting students throughout their Doctor of Medicine program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide specialized academic advice to students enrolled in the Doctor of Medicine program.
  • Enhance the progression of students through each of the four years of the MD program.
  • Develop and implement academic guidance strategies to support student success.
  • Maintain personal academic standing, including the pursuit of research and scholarship.
  • Supervise and develop student capability and skill.
  • Contribute to the development of a mutually supportive environment that enables medical students to thrive.
Requirements
  • Medical qualification and a General Practice Specialist or non-GP Specialist qualification, with eligibility for registration as a medical practitioner in Australia.
  • Experience in student support and/or clinical supervision of medical students.
  • Demonstrated skills in education at undergraduate, postgraduate level and/or professional level.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage effectively in the scholarship of teaching and learning.
  • High level communication and interpersonal skills for working with students, colleagues and external partners.
