About This Opportunity

The University of Queensland is seeking a highly skilled Academic Guidance Lead to join our team in the Rural Clinical School. This is a teaching-focused position that will play a crucial role in supporting students throughout their Doctor of Medicine program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teaching: Provide specialized academic advice and guidance to students enrolled in the Doctor of Medicine program.
  • Develop and implement academic leadership support strategies to enhance student progression through the program.
  • Research: Maintain personal academic standing and pursue research and scholarship opportunities.
  • Supervision and Researcher Development: Demonstrate personal effectiveness in supervision and management of student capability and skill.
  • Citizenship and Service: Consistently demonstrate behaviors that align with the University's values and contribute to the Rural Clinical School and Learning Community.
About You
  • Medical qualification and a General Practice Specialist or non-GP Specialist qualification, with eligibility for registration as a medical practitioner in Australia.
  • Experience in student support and/or clinical supervision of medical students and demonstrated skills in education at undergraduate, postgraduate level and/or professional level.
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching and knowledge of medical education.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage effectively in the scholarship of teaching and learning.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, establish effective relationships, and to manage disparate interests in an academic environment.
  • High level communication and interpersonal skills for working with students, colleagues, and external partners.
  • A commitment to and an understanding of the issues surrounding living and working in a rural and/or regional area.
