About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Field Surveillance Officer to join our team in Cairns, North Queensland. The successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking specialized field surveillance and treatment activities to eradicate target weed species from the Australian environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct field-based surveillance, mapping, and treatment activities to identify and control targeted weed species.
- Collect and record GPS data, as well as other relevant information, to support project requirements.
- Work effectively in teams to meet project deadlines and deliver high-quality results.
- Communicate effectively with landholders, program managers, staff, and stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Safely operate and maintain a range of field equipment, including spray units, chainsaws, GPS, and other navigational tools.
- Work in challenging terrain, including steep gradients, dense vegetation, and tropical weather conditions.
Requirements
- Experience in intensive outdoor laboring, hand weed control, and/or tropical rainforest field work.
- Ability to work cooperatively as a team player to solve problems quickly and effectively.
- Ability to work in varied and challenging environmental conditions for long periods of time.
- Current valid open manual C (car) class QLD drivers' license.
- Willingness to pass a drug and alcohol test, physical functional assessment, and police check.
