The Opportunity

We are in search of a skilled Production Engineer/CAM Programmer with a minimum of 5 years of relevant industry experience, ideally within advanced manufacturing in the aerospace sector. With a strong interest in technology, automation, and digital production, you will be an integral part of a small (but expanding) CAM team, working with some of the most advanced engineering and manufacturing technologies available.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce timely, high-quality CAM data/NC code tailored to HeliMods' growing array of advanced multi-axis CNC machines (including 5+ axis machines).
  • Collaborate with manufacturing work-center operators and engineering team members to ensure project deliverables are achieved.
  • Review and provide feedback on designs concerning their manufacturability.
  • Estimate the time required to generate CAM data for both internal projects and external manufacturing jobs.
  • Check and provide feedback on CAM data produced by team members.
  • Promote best practices and continuous improvement initiatives within CAD/CAM and machining to enhance efficiency and quality.
  • Assist machining operators during initial manufacturing processes.
  • Mentor and share knowledge with the broader team to enhance understanding of 'design for manufacture' principles.

Required Skills, Experience, and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (or similar), or Industry/Trade-level qualification.
  • 5+ years of experience in the automotive, aerospace, or other high-precision industries is preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience using advanced 3D CAM software, preferably Siemens NX CAM.
  • Experience as a CNC machinist is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with HAAS machine centers, including tooling and work holding, is desirable.
  • Experience in proving CAM, first-of-type production, and collaboration with an engineering team.

  • Ability to efficiently generate high-quality CAM inputs for 5-axis CNC machines operating at high speeds.
  • Capability to both generate CAM and operate CNC machine centers.
  • Willingness to learn and develop skills to operate new types of advanced CNC equipment.

  • Ability to work independently, managing time and priorities effectively.
