In alignment with our Strategic Plan, HeliMods is expanding nationally and in select international markets. To support our growth initiatives, we are currently looking to add new members to our dynamic team.
The Opportunity
We are in search of a skilled Production Engineer/CAM Programmer with at least 5 years of relevant industry experience, ideally within advanced manufacturing in the aerospace sector. With a strong interest in technology, automation, and digital production, you will be part of a small yet expanding CAM team, working with some of the most sophisticated engineering and manufacturing technologies available.
Key Responsibilities:
- Producing timely, high-quality CAM data/NC code tailored to HeliMods' growing array of advanced multi-axis CNC machines (including 5+ axis machines).
- Collaborating with manufacturing operators and engineering team members to ensure project objectives are achieved.
- Reviewing and providing feedback on designs concerning their manufacturability.
- Estimating the time required to generate CAM data for both internal projects and external manufacturing jobs.
- Checking and offering feedback on CAM data produced by team members.
- Promoting best practices and continuous improvement initiatives within CAD/CAM and machining to enhance efficiency and quality.
- Assisting machining operators during first-of-type manufacturing processes.
- Mentoring and sharing knowledge with the broader team to improve understanding of 'design for manufacture' principles.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (or similar), or Industry/Trade-level qualification.
- 5+ years of experience in the automotive, aerospace, or other high-precision industries is preferred.
- 3+ years of experience using advanced 3D CAM software, preferably Siemens NX CAM.
- Experience as a CNC machinist is advantageous.
- Familiarity with HAAS machine centers, including tooling and work holding, is desirable.
- Experience in proving CAM, first-of-type production, and collaboration with an engineering team.
Ideal Candidate Attributes:
- Ability to efficiently generate high-quality CAM inputs for 5-axis CNC machines operating at high speeds.
- Capability to both generate CAM and operate CNC machine centers.
- Willingness to learn and develop skills to operate new types of advanced CNC equipment.
