Our ecology division is well-versed in all facets of biodiversity assessment in New South Wales, with a particular emphasis on developing Biodiversity Stewardship Agreements (BSAs). We are seeking a skilled Ecologist to assist in managing our current portfolio of Stewardship Sites.

Role Overview

Conduct field surveys and prepare comprehensive reports for various flora and fauna assessments. Possess a solid understanding of the NSW Biodiversity Assessment Method (BAM). Develop a range of environmental assessment and management reports, including Biodiversity Stewardship Site Assessment Reports (BSSARs), Biodiversity Development Assessment Reports (BDAR), Flora and Fauna Assessment Reports, Vegetation Management Plans (VMP), and Biodiversity Management Plans. Perform flora surveys across New South Wales, including the verification and mapping of threatened ecological communities, regional ecosystems, vegetation communities, and both threatened and biosecurity species. Build and maintain relationships with clients and regulatory bodies, leading the preparation of proposals and technical reports.

Candidate Profile

Relevant tertiary qualifications in Ecology, Environmental Science, or Natural Resource Management. Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to create clear and concise reports and correspondence. Experience in the classification and mapping of vegetation communities utilizing the NSW BioNet Vegetation Classification. Knowledge of threatened fauna, their habitats, and management practices. A minimum of 2 years of experience in a consulting ecology role (or equivalent) with proven experience in producing BDARs, REFs, VMPs, BSSARs, etc. BAM accreditation is required. Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team. A valid NSW driver's license. Willingness to travel, including remote locations, to fulfill fieldwork responsibilities.
