We are an employee-owned environmental consultancy that aims to be a trusted advisor and partner to our clients to deliver their projects. Our ecology team is experienced across all aspects of NSW Biodiversity Assessment, with a strong focus in the preparation of Biodiversity Stewardship Agreements (BSAs).
As an Ecologist, you will play a key role in helping us deliver our backlog of Stewardship Sites. You will be responsible for field survey and subsequent report preparation for a variety of flora and fauna assessments.
About the Role
- Conduct thorough field surveys and prepare detailed reports on flora and fauna assessments.
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the NSW Biodiversity Assessment Method (BAM).
- Prepare a range of environmental assessment and management reports, including Biodiversity Stewardship Site Assessment Reports (BSSARs), Biodiversity Development Assessment Reports (BDAR), Flora and Fauna Assessment Reports, and Vegetation Management Plans (VMP).
- Undertake flora surveys throughout New South Wales, including verification and mapping of threatened ecological communities, regional ecosystems, vegetation communities, threatened species, and biosecurity species.
- Maintain strong relationships with clients and regulatory agencies, and lead the delivery of proposals and technical reports for clients.
About You
- Tertiary qualifications in Ecology, Environmental Science, or Natural Resource Management.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to produce clear and concise reports and correspondence.
- Experience in classification and mapping of vegetation communities using the NSW BioNet Vegetation Classification.
- Knowledge of threatened fauna, their habitat, and management.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in a consulting ecology position (or industry equivalent) with relevant experience in the production of the aforementioned reports.
- BAM accreditation.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- NSW driver's licence.
- Willingness to travel, sometimes remotely, to perform duties as required by fieldwork.
