Job Title: Maintenance Planner

Maintenance planners are essential to the success of plant maintenance activities, ensuring that all equipment and machinery is properly maintained and running smoothly.

The role of a maintenance planner involves preparing plant maintenance tasks, schedules and work instructions for all assets. This includes tracking plant maintenance schedules and work order for all assets, as well as preparing maintenance department performance KPI's.

Maintenance planners must also identify trends and opportunities to improve asset reliability by analysis of manufacturing and engineering performance data. They plan and schedule all day to day maintenance activities and resources utilising SAP, and maintain the requirements of SAP Plant maintenance module and continuously improve the SAP PM Module.

Coordinating with Production, Maintenance Fitters, Electrician and External contractors is also a key part of the job. Maintenance planners ensure that all documentations related to asset management are well organised and easily retrievable, and supervise and manage contractor activity.

Other responsibilities include assisting the Maintenance Manager with capital projects and other departmental duties, as required.

This role requires strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective relations with internal and external stakeholders. Knowledge of Excel is mandatory, and knowledge of SAP is highly desirable but not essential.

  • Tertiary or trade qualified (ideally mechanical or electrical trades);
  • Experience in reliability focused maintenance in a manufacturing or process plant environment;
  • Knowledge of maintenance planning principles and procedures; and computerised maintenance planning systems is essential;
  • Knowledge and understanding of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP);
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement improvement initiatives;
