Domestic Violence Support Services Job
Job DescriptionWe are seeking a Crisis Support Worker to provide after-hours crisis response on a casual basis. The service operates in the evening, offering telephone and face-to-face support to women and their families escaping domestic and family violence.
Main Responsibilities:
- Promote a culture of risk awareness where staff identify, report, and address all forms of risk to clients, staff, and colleagues.
- Provide ongoing safety planning and crisis support services to clients at risk.
- Maintain a safe environment for all stakeholders by managing and reporting incidents.
- Evaluate the suitability of individuals and families accessing the service and make referrals to other services as necessary.
- Assist and engage with clients in crisis requiring emergency accommodation.
- Collaborate with other service providers and local community groups and provide community education.
Requirements:
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field such as Social Work, Social Science/Welfare, Psychology/Counselling, or related discipline and/or demonstrated relevant industry experience.
- Demonstrated understanding of domestic/family violence, including knowledge of abusive relationships, legal matters, child protection, and custody issues.
- Experience in providing crisis support and intervention services to people experiencing domestic and/or family violence.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and support services.
- A current valid Australian driver's license and insured vehicle.
