Mechanical Engineer

This role is part of our Starship Tooling team, responsible for designing and building critical production assets required to launch the Starship spacecraft.

We are looking for a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer with experience in machine design and development. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in CAD software design packages, finite element analysis, and mechanical engineering principles.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and build custom machinery and infrastructure to enable the production and handling of Starship launch vehicles.
  • Develop the tooling of the future to enable rapid build, test, and operation of our transport architectures.
  • Collaborate with vehicle engineers to influence vehicle design and manufacturing processes to maximize production rate.

The selected candidate will be part of a dynamic and collaborative environment, working closely with engineers, technicians, suppliers, and leadership. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential for this role.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline.
  • Experience using a CAD software design package (e.g. Solidworks, NX, CATIA, or ProE).
  • 1+ years of total experience in one or more of the following: involvement with an outside-of-the-classroom project designing and building mechanical structures; academic research on mechanical structures; professional experience designing and analyzing mechanical structures.
