Job Title: Automation Systems Specialist 

We are seeking an experienced Automation Systems Specialist to join our team and help develop and build automated solutions for the Starship production line. This role will involve hands-on design and activation of hardware and software systems for the machines that make up the production line.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automation and controls engineering, with experience in designing and commissioning automated manufacturing processes and equipment. They will also have excellent communication skills and be able to work effectively as part of a team.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop automated manufacturing processes and equipment for the production line.

  • Develop robot systems to aid in the automated manufacturing of various vehicle sub-components.

  • Lay out new industrial electrical control panels and create electrical, pneumatic, and fluid schematics.

  • Architect, write, and debug PLC code for manufacturing applications.

  • Implement safety systems for safeguarding robots, gantries, conveyors, and other manufacturing equipment.

  • Generate aesthetically simple HMI screens for complex machinery while providing sufficient feedback for troubleshooting.

  • Manage electrical cabinet builds, field wiring, pneumatic and fluid plumbing.

  • Select and size electrical and electromechanical components such as servo motors and controllers.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline.

  • 2+ years experience in the design and commissioning of automation and controls systems for industrial applications.

  • Experience in process integration and electromechanical/mechatronic systems.

  • Knowledge of NEC, NFPA 79, UL508A codes.

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
