About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Access Enabler to join our team at Mission Australia. As an Access Enabler, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with severe and persistent mental health conditions to access and navigate the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

Key Responsibilities
  • Build strong relationships with clients and their support networks to understand their needs and goals.
  • Develop and review client recovery and goal plans every three months to ensure effective support.
  • Conduct assessments and gather information to support clients' eligibility for the NDIS.
  • Work with clients to complete NDIS forms, gather evidence, and submit documentation.
  • Engage with NDIA regional contacts to support client transitions and ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Transition clients not eligible for the NDIS to other services, ensuring continuity of support.
  • Collaborate with Program Manager, Peer Advocates, and team members to maintain partnerships with stakeholders and ensure integrated program delivery.
  • Attend regional meetings to stay informed about program developments and best practices.
  • Participate in quality and improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery and client outcomes.
  • Provide reporting and information to PSP management to inform program decisions.
Requirements for Success
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in mental health or a related field.
  • Significant experience in mental health recovery-oriented services, including facilitating multi-disciplinary coordinated planning.
  • Experience working with individuals with psychosocial disability and supporting NDIS access.
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation, conflict resolution, and partnership-building skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, administrative, and technology skills.
  • Proficient time management and adherence to recovery-oriented practices.
  • Understanding of mental health service systems, policies, and legislation.
  • Personal experience managing recovery from a mental health condition (lived experience) is desirable.
  • Developing knowledge of relevant legislative requirements.
  • Understanding of Trauma-Informed Care principles.
