Job Title

Cable Installation Specialist

At our company, we are seeking an experienced Cable Installation Specialist to join our team.

  • Install data cables and optical fibre cables in cable trays and conduits within customer premises.
  • Install optical fibres in external telecommunication infrastructure.
  • Install internal telecommunication devices, including switches/routers, NTDs, telephone, and PCs.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Install internal data cables and optical fibre cables in cable trays and conduits within customer premises.
  2. Install optical fibres in external telecommunication infrastructure, including underground ducts/conduits and pits.
  3. Install internal telecommunication devices, including switches/routers, NTDs, telephone, and PCs.
  4. Rod & Roping (Pipe proofing).
  5. Clearing blockages in underground pipes.
  6. Building joint closures, such as DJL, FJL, and BJLs.
  7. Slicing and testing both copper cables and fibre cables.
  8. Performing optical power meter, OTDR, and Insertion Loss Testing of optical fibres.
  9. Troubleshooting using OTDR.
  10. Labelling cables and network devices to required standards.
  11. Scope of works preparation, material ordering, and reconciliation.
  12. As-Built Documentation, including red lines, artefacts.
  13. Setting up worksites and traffic management, ensuring safety at worksites.
  14. Sound understanding of WHS requirements, including SDS, WIs/JSAs/Pre-starts, SWMS, and Risk Assessments.

Requirements:

  • Right to Work Australia (Valid Passport and/or valid Visa is required). Visa sponsorship is available.
  • Construction Industry white card.
  • Recent Police Clearance (less than 6 months old).
  • Relevant NBN fibre splicing Accreditations (including skills 9, 12, and 13).
  • First Aid & CPR.
  • Full NSW Driver's Licence.
  • ACMA registration.
  • Asbestos Awareness.
  • At least three years of experience removing non-friable asbestos.
  • Confined Space & Gas Test.
  • Power Awareness.
  • RIIWHS302D- Implement Traffic Management Plan.
  • Working at heights.
  • Strong understanding of data cables and optical fibre networks.
  • Flu and Covid-19 Vaccinations may be required in Aged Care settings.

Skills:

  • OTDR troubleshooting skills.
  • Able to read, understand, and mark-up telecommunication plans.
  • Competent in utilising tablet devices and/or laptops.
  • Able to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and strong customer focus.
  • Able to operate high-pressure flush.
  • Competent in using manual tools.

Benefits:

  • 7.5 hours a day, Monday - Friday.
  • Annual salary between $76,000-$90,000 depending on experience.

Experience:

  • 3 years of experience in internal and external cabling of data and optical cables.

Licence/Certification:

  • ACMA Open Cabling Licence.
