About the Position

This opportunity is suitable for professionals with experience and an interest in working within complex mental health and disability services in adult and youth forensic settings.

We are seeking individuals to join our team as Senior Forensic Practitioners or Forensic Practitioners, delivering direct (e.g., intervention) and indirect (e.g., forensic reports) services to individuals with complex needs under legislative frameworks.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to participate in improving lives by delivering person-centred services, including:

  • Conducting a range of forensic assessments, such as risk assessments, treatment plans, and court-required documentation;
  • Identifying appropriate supports, interventions, and service models for individuals subject to various orders or at risk of coming into contact with the justice system;
  • Preparing, writing, and delivering assessment reports for supporting bodies (e.g., state/territory departments and the National Disability Insurance Scheme);
  • Providing high-level clinical consulting and engagement in multidisciplinary meetings for leadership, guidance, and reflective practice opportunities;
  • Offering consultation, training, and advice to teams directly supporting clients (e.g., disability support workers);
  • Collaborating with a wide range of professionals (e.g., allied health professionals, mental health professionals, forensic specific services, and/or disability specific support services);
  • Providing behaviour support for clients with complex disabilities and psycho-social support needs, including developing behaviour support plans and training/implementation of plans;
  • Developing and delivering a range of direct interventions (e.g., offence-specific and offence-related intervention).

Note: Aspects of the role may differ depending on the successful candidate's professional background, qualifications, skills, and relevant experience. Individuals suitable for a Senior Practitioner role will also have the opportunity to provide supervision and expertise to other practitioners.

The position will be based in Winnellie and may involve travel for client work around the Darwin metro area. Opportunities for regional/remote and interstate projects are available to our team of Forensic Practitioners. There is also an option to work from home for administration/report writing.

Salary and Benefits

A competitive salary package of approximately $80,000 - $120,000 per annum, commensurate with experience and qualifications, plus attractive employee benefits and career progression opportunities.

Requirements
  1. Tertiary qualification in a related discipline (e.g., psychology, social work, occupational therapy, or disability) and registration with the appropriate regulatory board;
  2. Experience working with people with intellectual disabilities, mental health issues, and/or experiences of trauma who have complex needs;
  3. Experience within the forensic field and knowledge of relevant forensic frameworks;
