About the Role

The RMIT University is seeking an experienced professional to lead career development programs for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. As a Strategic Indigenous Career Development Leader, you will provide leadership and strategic advice in planning, delivering, and evaluating career development programs.

This role has a strong focus on building relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including industry, community organizations, and program delivery partners. You will work closely with OIERE leadership to support the delivery of RMIT's Indigenous Strategic Commitments and achieve graduate employment outcomes outlined in Knowledge with Action: RMIT's Strategy to 2031.

Based within the Ngarara Willim Centre, you will build relationships with students by providing tailored advice on career planning and pathways throughout the student lifecycle. This includes students studying online and within Community programs.

To be successful in this position, you'll have a highly developed understanding of systemic barriers and challenges experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities regarding education and employment. You will also possess knowledge of the labour market and education sectors, as well as the ability to develop and manage career development programs.

In addition, you'll need high-level interpersonal skills, including the ability to develop, manage, and maintain strategic relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. The ability to capture and analyze data to effectively provide insights, reporting, and recommendations is also essential.

We are looking for someone with relevant work experience within Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. A degree in a relevant field of education or extensive relevant experience in an education or similar environment is also desirable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and strategic advice in planning, delivering, and evaluating career development programs for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
  • Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including industry, community organizations, and program delivery partners.
  • Work closely with OIERE leadership to support the delivery of RMIT's Indigenous Strategic Commitments and achieve graduate employment outcomes.
  • Provide tailored advice on career planning and pathways to students throughout the student lifecycle.
  • Capture and analyze data to effectively provide insights, reporting, and recommendations.

Estimated Salary: $112,068 pa + 17% Superannuation (HEW 8)
