Accurate Patient Information and Efficient Care

Citizens Medical Center is a not-for-profit hospital renowned for its compassionate patient care, clinical expertise, and provision of advanced medical services to the South Texas region since 1956. Today, it's a 338-bed acute care hospital with over 1,000 dedicated employees.

The Patient Access Representative position plays a vital role in ensuring patients receive accurate and efficient care. This includes obtaining and entering demographic and insurance information into the electronic health record (EHR) on patients presenting at various entry points of the facility.

Responsibilities and Expectations
  • Promote a positive work environment and contribute to a dynamic team focused on achieving optimal departmental and organizational results.
  • Communicate openly and professionally with customers and coworkers, resolving issues and concerns in a timely manner.
  • Ensure the confidentiality and privacy of protected health information according to established State and Government Privacy Rule guidelines.
  • Organize time effectively, minimizing incidental overtime and setting priorities to ensure efficient patient flow.
  • Display initiative to improve job functions, adapt to changing demands, and offer suggestions to streamline processes.
  • Obtain and record accurate demographic and insurance information on patients by interviewing patients, family members, and physicians, and ensuring correct insurance plan codes are used for billing.
