Urban Planning Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Urban Planning Specialist to join our team in a local government setting.

  • This is a challenging role that requires strong organisational and customer service skills, as well as the ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

The successful candidate will possess:

  • Knowledge of land use planning and development control, including relevant legislation, practices and trends;
  • A strong analytical mind and excellent communication skills;
  • An ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines;
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role is an advantage.

The ideal candidate will have progression towards an Urban Planning degree or similar tertiary qualification.

Responsibilities:

  • Assessing development and subdivision applications, scheme amendments, Structure Plans, and Local Development Plans;
  • Preparing reports for council meetings and JDAPs, attending meetings with key stakeholders, and providing clear, professional advice to agencies, developers, the public, and internal teams—all while delivering outstanding customer service.
