Program and Project Planning Specialist

This role focuses on providing planning expertise to ensure the successful delivery of programs and projects. The Program and Project Planning Specialist will work closely with program or project managers and stakeholders to define program or project scope, develop resource-based schedules, and track progress.

  • Fulfils the responsibilities of this role in accordance with Queensland Public Sector values and standards.
  • Ensures high-quality services and workplaces by adhering to service quality standards and occupational health and safety policies.
  • Facilitates planning workshops to identify dependencies between programs and projects, developing product breakdown structures and product flow diagrams.
  • Develops, analyses, and maintains master program and/or project resource-based schedules that align with Delivery Services Branch planning and scheduling standards.
  • Provides specialist advice on program and project planning and scheduling to ensure optimal delivery of agreed scope.

Requirements:

  • Experience leading and facilitating product-based planning workshops, developing product breakdown structures, product flow diagrams, and resource-based schedules.
  • Complex Information and Communication Technology (ICT) program and project environment experience using scheduling tools.
  • Able to identify opportunities for improvement in schedule design and setup while ensuring best practice scheduling.
  • High-level written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to provide specialist planning and scheduling advice and support.

Qualifications:

  • Facilitation and product-based planning experience.
  • Scheduling and Microsoft Project Online skills.
  • Program and project management qualifications.
