Early Years Practitioner Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Early Years Practitioner to contribute to the growth and development of our young learners.

The ideal candidate will have: knowledge and experience of working with children aged 2 - 5 years old; expertise in supporting children to learn through play-based activities; a nurturing and inclusive approach to supporting learners to achieve their full potential.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with colleagues to plan and implement engaging experiences tailored to the developmental needs of each child.
  • Create a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment that promotes social and emotional growth.
  • Observe and assess children's progress, maintaining accurate records to inform future planning.
  • Foster strong relationships with children, parents, and colleagues through effective communication.
  • Contribute to a collaborative team effort to ensure high standards of care and education are maintained.
  • Support the leadership team in guiding the nursery team, providing guidance and mentorship as needed.
  • Maintain compliance with relevant regulations and policies regarding health, safety, and safeguarding.

Required Qualifications and Experience:
  • Proven experience working with young children in a childcare or nursery setting is essential.
  • A suitable qualification for registration with SSSC as a Practitioner in Daycare of Children is mandatory.

Work Arrangements:

Job Type: Part-time

Hourly Rate: £12.75 per hour

Expected Hours: 25 – 33.75 hours per week
