Research Scientist

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Officer to join our Systems Immunology group, led by Dr Seyhan Yazar, in the Precision Immunology Program. As a key member of our team, you will contribute to the development of computational methods to better understand autoimmune and allergic diseases.
About the RoleThis is a 2-year term contract with the possibility of extension. You will be responsible for conducting original research under limited supervision, contributing to team and Garvan research projects, and presenting original research at national/international scientific conferences.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct research projects in an efficient and timely manner, with outcomes published under joint authorship in peer-reviewed journals
- Contribute to team and Garvan research projects
- Presentation of original research at national/international scientific conferences, and as invited to seminars locally and/or nationally
- Co-supervision and mentoring of students and junior research staff
- Provision of supervisory assistance in preparation of research grant proposals, including contribution of data
To be successful in this role, you will have a PhD degree in a related area of science or engineering, good statistical knowledge and programming skills, and experience analysing and interpreting genomics data. You will also have a strong publication record and be proficient in at least one scripting language (R, Python).
