Spacecraft Design Engineer Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Spacecraft Design Engineer to join our team in developing revolutionary space technology. As a key member of our spacecraft design team, you will be responsible for designing and solving complex problems related to primary and secondary structures, thermal protection systems, aerodynamic control surfaces, stage separation systems, recovery systems, and more.

To succeed in this role, you will need to have a strong background in mechanical design and analysis, with experience working on high-performance mechanical systems. Proficiency in finite element analysis (FEA) or multiphysics simulation packages and analytical/scientific programming languages like Python or Matlab is also highly desirable.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline and at least 5 years of experience in mechanical design and analysis. They will also possess excellent problem-solving skills, be able to work effectively in a team environment, and have a strong commitment to delivering high-quality results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop primary and secondary structures for the spacecraft.
  • Develop design criteria where definition is lacking.
  • Perform hand calculations and FEA to assess and optimize designs.
  • Incorporate design for manufacturing principles and supervise first article builds.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to balance operational needs across vehicle systems while optimizing for speed, performance, and cost.
