We are seeking a Category Development Manager to lead the strategic sourcing and category management of our preferred manufacturer portfolio. This includes developing and executing strategies to ensure the appropriate range and value of products is aligned to our sector and external client requirements.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering value creation by identifying and executing opportunities across the portfolio by collaboration with key stakeholders, promoting innovation, leveraging best commercial outcomes, adopting trend insights and optimising vendor performance management.

About the Role

This role involves holding primary relationships with core suppliers and managing a small but agile team. The position requires developing and executing category strategies to meet commercial, operational and sustainability objectives, leading supplier selection, tendering, contract negotiation and ongoing supplier relationship management.

Key responsibilities include analysing category performance and implementing initiatives to drive efficiency, compliance and continuous improvement. The role also requires staying informed of market trends, risks and innovations to inform category development and risk mitigation strategies.

Requirements
  • Experience in procurement, category or supply chain management preferably within FMCG, food services or hospitality sectors
  • Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills with a track record of delivering cost savings and added value
  • Excellent analytical ability with a data-driven approach to decision-making
  • Effective stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at all levels
  • Tertiary qualifications in Business, Procurement, Supply Chain or a related field are highly desirable
