Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Marine Engineer to join our team at SeaLink Western Australia.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of our vessels, including technical oversight and maintenance of main and auxiliary machinery, as well as ensuring all technical requirements are met.

The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, effective written and verbal communication skills, and a high standard of interpersonal and organisational skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safe and efficient operation of Company vessels
  • Technical oversight and maintenance of main and auxiliary machinery
  • Servicing and maintenance of firefighting equipment, engine room, and cleanliness of machinery spaces
  • Collaboration with on-ground Maintenance Manager, Master, and Operations Manager to ensure technical requirements are met
  • Loading/unloading of vessel, luggage & equipment
  • Assisting with day-to-day maintenance requirements and services supplies

Requirements:

  • Proven strong leadership skills and people management
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Organisational and planning skills
  • Able to perform autonomously and effectively delegate tasks
  • Proven vessel maintenance experience
  • Flexibility and reliability
  • Well-presented at all times
  • Ability to interact with guests in a friendly yet professional manner while promoting the philosophies of SeaLink WA
  • Availability to work public holidays, weekends, and evenings - Essential
  • Full availability from October to end March - Essential

Essential Skills:

  • Minimum MED2 Qualification plus seatime
  • Senior First Aid Qualification
  • Current Driver's Licence
  • Shipboard Safety Certificate
  • Experience with Scania and/or Caterpillar Marine Engines (highly desirable)
