Role Overview

Job Description

The Defence Schools Mentor will provide vital support to dependents of Australian Defence Force (ADF) members and their families.

This role requires a commitment to working within the Catholic Ethos, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment for all students.

The successful candidate will develop and implement activities designed to ease the impact of mobility and service-related parental absence on ADF families.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing information and support to ADF families
  • Developing and delivering activities tailored to meet the needs of ADF families
  • Building relationships with school staff, parents, and ADF members
Requirements

To be successful in this role, applicants must possess the following essential criteria:

  • A commitment to working within the Catholic Ethos
  • Current Ochre Card or ability to obtain one
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to communicate effectively with children, school staff, parents, and ADF members
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to plan, organise, and deliver activities and resources relating to the needs of ADF families
  • Current driver's licence, preferably with an MR Licence
