Role Overview:

This is an opportunity to contribute to the teaching and research in Rheumatology, Sydney Medical School.

  • The position will be in the Rheumatology Department at Westmead Hospital and at the Westmead Clinical School.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a clinical, translational or basic science research program relevant to Rheumatology.
  • Lead the development, implementation and promotion of clinical/education programs for MD students relating to Rheumatology.
  • Contribute to the healthcare team in the Specialty of Rheumatology, including participating in Rheumatology Department activities, e.g. quality and safety and service improvement.
  • Promote a collaborative culture that respects the skill sets and opinions of all staff.
About You:

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • A PhD in a field relevant to Rheumatology.
  • Registration as a medical practitioner in NSW with recognition by AHPRA as a Specialist Rheumatologist and Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Physicians, or equivalent.
  • An emerging national/international reputation and research track record, including publications in peer-reviewed international journals and success in obtaining research funding and supervision of research students.
  • Experience in designing, implementing, and evaluating teaching and learning initiatives within Rheumatology.
  • A network of relationships with key academic and professional institutions, partners and stakeholders that can enhance the standing of the Specialty, Hospital/School/Faculty and University.
