Job SummaryWe are seeking a skilled Data Center Technician to join our team. As a Data Center Technician, you will be responsible for staging, setting up, and performing hardware deployments, as well as troubleshooting and diagnosing equipment issues.
Responsibilities- Diagnostics and Troubleshooting: Perform diagnostics and troubleshooting following standard procedures, quickly identify the cause(s) of issues, and replace faulty components with minimal customer and business disruption.
- Post-Execution Quality Checks: Perform post-execution quality checks and verify that grounding, staging, labeling, and cabling are set up properly according to safety protocols, deployment standards, and planned Network Design Tasks (NDTs).
- Hardware Decommissioning: Decommission hardware for simple changes and refreshes (e.g., memory upgrades, rebuilds) following standard procedures with minimal guidance.
- Incident Reporting and Escalation: Follow procedures to communicate, report, and escalate incidents to appropriate Microsoft data center operations management units, Technician Leads, and engineering specialists.
- Team Collaboration: Assist and provide guidance to other technicians to complete challenging or complex tasks.
- Training and Development: Complete required training aligned to the role and workload; observe more experienced technicians to gain hands-on experience and relevant on-the-job training.
- Skill Level: Proficient in data center operations, hardware deployment, and troubleshooting.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Experience: At least 2 years of experience in data center operations or a related field.
As a Data Center Technician at Microsoft, you can expect a competitive salary, ranging from $80,000 to $120,000 per year, depending on location and experience.
