Chain of Responsibility Specialist

We are seeking an experienced professional to join our team as a Chain of Responsibility Specialist.

This is a newly created 12-month fixed term role focused on ensuring compliance with the National Heavy Vehicle Regulations (NHVR).

The successful candidate will develop, maintain and execute an internal audit program assessing transport providers', distribution centres' and stores' compliance with Heavy Vehicle National Law and Chain of Responsibility.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain an audit program aligned with NHVAS and HVNL requirements.
  • Schedule, prioritize and conduct audits based on risk and compliance history of transport providers, stores and distribution centres.
  • Prepare clear, evidence-based audit reports identifying non-conformances and recommend corrective actions.
  • Complete audits efficiently, on time and cost-effectively.
  • Adapt to changing business needs and manage multiple engagements.
  • Communicate audit findings clearly, following style and reference guidelines.
  • Provide training on frequent audit findings and compliance expectations.

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • Demonstrated understanding and experience with Chain of Responsibility obligations and NHVR regulatory requirement compliance.
  • Exposure to the National Heavy Vehicle Accreditation Scheme will be viewed favourably.
  • Familiarity with internal control concepts, auditing standards and risk assessment practices.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to make evidence-based decisions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proactive and solutions-focused nature, seeking to understand and help teams problem-solve.
  • Ability to drive improvements and meet deadlines.
  • Exceptional customer mindset with a passion for collaboration.
  • Ability and flexibility to travel nationally and/or to New Zealand, around one week per month.
