Our organization seeks a Clinical Management Specialist, who will be responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of Phlebotomy staff in our laboratory. This role involves standardizing documentation, training, and competency coordination with Supervising Scientists and Group Laboratory Manager.

The primary purpose of this position is to provide leadership and direction to Pathology Queensland phlebotomy staff across multiple sites, achieving identified outcomes within established timeframes. The successful candidate will demonstrate high-level communication and interpersonal skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution, client liaison, and establishing effective working relationships.

Key competencies for this role include:

  • Experience in managing high-quality specimen collection and processing departments in a clinical pathology laboratory, with in-depth knowledge of laboratory processes.
  • Ability to lead, supervise, coordinate, and train staff across multiple sites, providing an efficient and effective pathology operational service with a commitment to team ethics.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients, scientific, operational, medical, and nursing staff at all levels.
  • Understanding of laboratory quality systems, NATA accreditation, and ISO certification requirements.
  • Knowledge and understanding of human resource management functions, services, and policies applicable to Pathology Queensland to ensure business objectives are met and patient outcomes are optimal.

Required qualifications include a Certificate IV in Specimen Collection, proficiency in Central Specimen Reception, and willingness to participate in 24-hour shift, on-call, or weekend roster arrangements. We welcome applications from people of all cultures, abilities, and backgrounds.
