Senior Cyber Analyst Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Cyber Analyst to play a critical role in supporting the cyber security maturity and capability uplift across Australia's energy sector.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the significant transition in the energy sector and co-design the future of our energy systems.

  • Coordinate with government authorities and energy market participants on effective response to cyber security incidents.
  • Enhance the frameworks used to inform cyber security maturity uplift across grids and markets.
  • Coordinate cyber security research activities on emerging issues affecting energy grids and markets.
  • Promote a shared understanding of the cyber threat environment.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver complex outcomes in support of the Energy Markets Cyber Coordination team's responsibilities relating to cyber maturity uplift.
  • Maintain contacts and engage with stakeholders across government, industry, and academia.
  • Review AEMO cyber security standards applying to market participants.
  • Support review and refinement of sector-specific cyber maturity frameworks and reporting on security preparedness of the sector.
  • Assist in the development of supporting materials and presentations.
  • Coordinate internal and contracted resources to deliver objectives.
  • Support Manager, Energy Market Cyber Coordination in reporting on progress against initiatives and other duties as required.
Required Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven experience in the energy sector supporting critical infrastructure, resilience, and cyber security initiatives.
  • Effective analysis and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of security control and maturity frameworks relevant to the energy sector.
  • Knowledge of jurisdictional structures and arrangements across State, Territory, and Commonwealth governments with respect to energy and cyber security.
  • Contemporary knowledge of cyber adversary techniques and tradecraft.
  • Procurement, program, and project management skills.
  • Financial/budget management, scheduling, and resource management skills.
  • Ability to travel interstate and work flexible hours.
Education/Professional Certifications:
  • Tertiary qualifications in computer science, technology-related fields, energy-related fields, or equivalent experience.
  • Cyber security, energy, or project management qualifications or certifications would be advantageous.
