
Nurse - Harm Reduction

This role involves providing high-quality patient care and support to individuals with complex health needs. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to deliver person-centered healthcare services, using a harm reduction and trauma-informed approach.
Responsibilities include conducting assessments and screenings, developing individualized care plans, and providing education and advocacy to participants. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical skills, experience working with diverse populations, and a commitment to social justice principles.
The SAFER Nurse will be responsible for:
- Providing care and support for individuals with poly-substance use and complex health conditions
- Working independently and collaboratively with the SAFER team to support participants
- Conducting assessments and screenings, and administering medications as ordered by program physicians
- Developing and maintaining individualized care plans, and providing ongoing monitoring and support
- Collaborating with community partners to ensure seamless support of mutual participants
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and qualifications:
- Registered Nurse, Registered Psychiatric Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse registration with the BCCNM regulator
- Minimum 1-5 years' full scope outreach nursing experience working with people with high levels of poly-substance use and mental health challenges
- Previous experience working in supervised consumption/overdose prevention services, safer supply or other harm reduction programs
- Demonstrated commitment to social justice principles and practices, including harm reduction, anti-racism, decolonization, and combating stigma related to drug use
- Experience working in solidarity with diverse populations, including people who are criminalized for their drug use, racialized identities, Indigenous persons, LGBTQI2S+ identities, sex workers, and people with disabilities
