
Heavy Vehicle Road Transport Apprenticeship

As a Heavy Vehicle Apprentice, you will be responsible for assisting with the repair and maintenance of heavy commercial fleet vehicles and equipment. You will work in a dynamic team environment to ensure the safe operation of our vehicles.
About the RoleThe role involves learning and performing repairs and maintenance on light and heavy vehicles, including transmissions. You will diagnose potential faults and repair vehicle mechanical problems according to maintenance schedules. Your duties will also include isolating problems and providing safe, practical solutions for fire appliances and equipment.
You will use hand and specialised tools and electronic diagnostic equipment in compliance with safety requirements. Participating in ongoing manufacturer and in-house training is essential to maintaining competencies and obtaining a trade certificate in heavy vehicle road transport.
Requirements- A valid driver's license; familiarity with manual and automatic transmissions
- Eligibility for enrolment or progression towards the relevant Trade Certificate in Heavy Vehicle Mechanic, or equivalent as deemed suitable by the relevant authorities
- Commitment to complete a four-year apprenticeship and obtain a nationally recognised qualification
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) kit
- Quality training and mentoring in heavy vehicle trades, with exposure to light vehicle trade
