The role of environment and compliance specialist is pivotal in ensuring that energy infrastructure businesses operate within environmentally compliant frameworks. This encompasses a range of responsibilities including supporting the day-to-day compliance of asset, operations, and construction environmental obligations.
- Collaborating with operational teams to guarantee environmentally compliant business activities across Queensland and the Northern Territory.
- Providing expert advice and support to internal stakeholders on environmental requirements, risks, and management measures.
- Coordinating and facilitating environmental risk assessments, environment and cultural heritage approvals for new assets and projects.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing Environment Management Plans and Cultural Heritage Management Plans for assets and activities within the region. Additionally, they will facilitate technical environmental reporting obligations within the jurisdiction.
This role requires close collaboration with the regional Environment Lead and Manager Environment and Heritage to deliver national reporting obligations and engage with key jurisdictional environmental regulators.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will need a strong background in environmental science, engineering, or management, along with experience working in gas, linear infrastructure, energy, mining, or other heavy industries.
Familiarity with environmental management systems (ISO 14001) and geographic information systems (GIS) is highly desirable. A sound understanding of environmental law and regulatory frameworks is essential, as well as the ability to execute environment activities for mid-large size organisations.
