Food Service Assistant Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Food Service Assistant to join our team in Alice Springs, Northern Territory, Australia. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and serving high-quality meals in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to work effectively in a team, and possess a strong attention to detail. Experience in food preparation and presentation is essential, as well as the ability to maintain a clean and organized workspace.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare ingredients by chopping, slicing, marinating, and portioning according to recipes.
  • Cook food to high standards, following established kitchen procedures and safety protocols.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen, cooking equipment, and utensils, adhering to health and safety regulations.
  • Be familiar with menu items, ingredients, and cooking methods to effectively prepare and present dishes.
  • Monitor quality of ingredients and finished dishes to ensure consistency and high standards.
  • Prepare dishes in a timely manner, meeting service schedules and deadlines.
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to manage kitchen operations, communicate orders, and ensure efficient meal preparation.
  • Assist in tracking and managing kitchen supplies, reporting when ingredients need to be reordered.
  • Adhere to health and safety regulations and kitchen procedures, including proper storage of ingredients and food handling techniques.
Requirements:

To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a US or Australian citizen.
  • Hold an active US Secret or AUS NV-1 Clearance.
  • Have a minimum of three years of experience in food service or a related field.
  • Demonstrate experience following instructions and safely operating kitchen equipment.
  • Understand hygiene and food safety rules.
  • Be capable of standing for long periods, lifting heavy items, and working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Possess excellent customer service and communication skills.

This is a contingent position based on contract award and requires onsite work 100% of the time.
