We are seeking a compassionate and empathetic individual to join our team as an AOD Carer Peer Worker. This role involves providing one-on-one peer support, facilitating group sessions, and coordinating community events to support families and friends of people experiencing mental health challenges and substance use.
About the RoleThis is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. As an AOD Carer Peer Worker, you will:
- Use your personal story of supporting a loved one to connect with and support other carers
- Deliver one-on-one peer support, group programs, and community engagement initiatives
- Work effectively in a multidisciplinary team to promote holistic care and support
We are looking for someone with a passion for making a difference in the lives of others. If you have a first-hand understanding of caring for a loved one with mental health challenges and substance use, and can create safe spaces for others to share their stories, we would love to hear from you.
About YouTo be successful in this role, you will need:
- A Certificate IV/Diploma in Mental Health, AOD or related tertiary qualification
- Personal experience of supporting a person with a mental illness, or psychological distress and recovery in addition to substance use or dependence
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to work effectively in a team environment
