About the Role

We are seeking an experienced In-house Lawyer to join our team at Ngarluma Aboriginal Corporation. As a key member of our management team, you will be responsible for providing legal advice and guidance to our CEO and Board of Directors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide legal advice and guidance on all aspects of our business, including Native Title, Corporations, and Commercial law.
  • Oversee the management of our legal obligations, including Land Access and Future Acts Matters.
  • Develop and implement legal strategies to protect our Native Title interests and ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Provide commercial advice on contracts and agreements, and negotiate with stakeholders as required.
  • Supervise and liaise with external lawyers and service providers as needed.
  • Support the development of internal policies, contracting frameworks, and governance procedures.
  • Conduct risk assessments and monitor industry and regulatory updates.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in law or equivalent tertiary legal qualification.
  • Current practicing certificate as an Australian lawyer.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar role, with significant experience in Commercial law and contract negotiation.
  • Knowledge of Native Title Act 1993 (Cth), Corporations (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) Act 2006 (Cth), and other relevant legislation.
  • Experience working in the Native Title sector or for an NTRB or PBC.
  • High level strategic thinking and commercial acumen.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, analytical, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong financial and resource management acumen.
