We are seeking a highly skilled Public Relations Specialist to join our team at Darebin City Council.

About the Role

This pivotal role will focus on enhancing Council's strategic communication with the community through a range of channels, including digital and print media. As a key member of our communications team, you will develop effective strategies and communications plans to inform and educate the community about various Council programs, events, policies, and initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop comprehensive communications plans to engage diverse audiences.
  • Coordinate the development and delivery of key external and internal communications materials.
  • Provide expert communication advice to internal stakeholders.
  • Create high-quality content for Council's major channels, including social media, newsletters, publications, and internal communications.
  • Represent Council on joint communication teams with external stakeholders as required.
  • Manage stakeholder requests and prioritize concurrent work across multiple groups.

Requirements
  • A tertiary qualification in communications, public relations, or a related field.
  • Minimum five years of experience in corporate communications and strategic public relations.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to negotiate and influence others towards common organisational outcomes.
  • High degree of integrity and professionalism.
  • A current Working with Children Card.
