Salary & Benefits

The estimated salary for this role is around $70,000-$90,000 per year, depending on experience. Job Description

This critical role will help Melbourne Sports Centres meet Victoria's Child Safe Standards by providing expert advice and guidance to our corporate and operational teams. You'll play a pivotal role in identifying and managing risks to child safety, working closely with event organisers, school groups, sports partners, and tenants to ensure all our venues are safe for children and young people.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the charge in raising awareness and understanding of child safety by delivering resources, guidance, and training to employees.
  • Coordinate the identification and mitigation of risks associated with Melbourne Sports Centres venues, programs, and projects.
  • Monitor, assess, and report on all child safety incidents, escalating complex matters to senior executives and preparing detailed reports.
  • Liaise with event organisers, schools, sports partners, and families to ensure child safety risks are managed effectively.
  • Evaluate and update our child safety framework to stay current with legislative changes and best practices.
  • Lead cultural initiatives, ensuring a child-safe environment throughout all venues.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Proven experience in a child safety or safeguarding role (highly desirable).
  • Detailed knowledge of the Victorian Child Safe Standards and relevant frameworks.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to provide guidance, support, and training to diverse teams.
  • Experience in risk management, investigations, and preparing data-driven reports.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with children, young people, and their families.
  • A commitment to maintaining integrity, exercising sound judgement, and working independently.
