
Aboriginal Cultural Care Coordinator

The position of Aboriginal Cultural Care Coordinator is a vital role within our educational institution. This individual will be responsible for providing support and guidance to students, particularly those of Aboriginal descent, in creating a positive and culturally safe environment.
This role involves planning and implementing activities that promote personal growth, social development, and health and wellbeing among students. The successful candidate will also engage in regular communication with colleagues, parents/guardians, school staff, other professionals, and community members to ensure the best possible outcomes for students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support and reinforce appropriate values and behaviors in students.
- Create a culturally safe and inclusive environment for students and staff.
- Develop and implement engaging activities for all students.
- Ensure students receive appropriate care and support to maintain their health and wellbeing.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues, parents, and community members to achieve student success.
Selection Criteria:
- Demonstrated understanding of effective supervision and care of students in a residential setting.
- Ability to plan, document, and lead leisure activities for secondary students.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work with diverse student populations and families.
- Strong organizational and teamwork skills to manage daily tasks and responsibilities.
- Capacity to meet and maintain eligibility and training requirements for this position.
